  2. dreamrealand the chorus hums in agreement. "Screw you, gradle, you're no longer able, your strength is a fable, built.. on... lies."
  3. dreamrealWhat'd it do now? :D
  4. wazsounds like gradle said 'screw you Tenchi
  5. Tenchiwaz: yes, but not before wispering sweet nothings in my ear for N hours and then finally "nya nya just kidding screw you"
  6. wazjust like last time!
  7. dreamreal... and like next time will be
  8. dreamrealgo ahead, Tenchi: we know your words will be "... I just cain't quit yew"
  9. cheeseri'm allergic to all conifers so i needed to quit yew
  10. ptomliGradle, for the youngsters who think they can rebuild Maven in 2 years
  11. ptomliI, on the other hand, have decided I will vocalise my hatred of SIP
  12. ParaIn the back of my mind is a build tool which really just recursively creates processbuilders to run arbitrary tools based on schema-like data structure.
  13. ParaThis idea is motivated by Certain Kinda Bad Buildtool, so it's not meant to be good at all.
  14. dreamrealSIP?
  15. dreamrealLike, the protocol?
  16. dreamrealPara: checked out mill or bld?
  17. dreamrealand BTW ant is still around :D
  18. Paradreamreal: No, unless you can promote them as inspirational for more layers of bad.
  19. ParaAnt is also a motivation for this crap :D
  20. dreamrealthey're just different; amper is out there, too
  21. dreamreal~amper
  22. javabotdreamreal, what does that even *mean*?
  23. dreamrealmill
  24. dreamreal~mill
  25. javabotdreamreal, what does that even *mean*?
  26. dreamreal~bld
  27. javabotBld is a new build system that uses Java for its build logic. It's geared towards building RIFE2 projects but can be used for anything else; note that it's very new and very raw and will likely grow new features quickly. See https://github.com/rife2/rife2/wiki/What-Is-Bld for more.
  28. ParaPart of the core idea is that since a lot of things are nowadays standalone tools, why not provide a DSL for running said tool using some ~magic~ logic to 1) figure out where the tool executable is and 2) what is the general scheme of its parameters and then map a bunch of data onto that, recursive shell exec is done so that one can promote "state sharing" by literal env pollution and such.
  29. dreamreal~just
  30. javabotdreamreal, what does that even *mean*?
  31. dreamrealhrm
  32. dreamrealcmake and make are there, too
  33. ParaThe end goal is to show this tool and end it with a "And even with all this, I think this is better than <your crap tool>!"
  34. ParaProblem of course is that that's quite a lot of doing for such a simple spite.
  35. ptomliPara: SIP the protocol, yes. But I suspect SIP the protocol providers is my real anger source
  36. dreamrealPara: I'm apparently chopped liver here :D
  37. Paradreamreal: liver casserole is delicious, it's a Finnish staple
  38. dreamrealare you guys the morons who gave us lutefisk and casa marzu, too? Haggis we can blame on the UK
  39. ParaLutefisk is Swedish. Or wait, hm
  40. dreamrealboth end with "ish" so clearly the same or something
  41. ParaUmm, damn. It's from the middle ages and also from these parts. Maybe we did?
  42. ParaIt's very goopy.
  43. * dreamreal shudders
  44. dreamrealI use lutefisk to get out of participating in pot-luck dinners
  45. dreamreal"What'll you bring" "Lutefisk! Maybe some haggis!" "Please don't bother" "ok!"
  46. dreamrealI would take casa marzu but it's illegal here
  47. ParaIf someone tries to trick you by saying that you must participate and not bring those, you should try bringing over some mämmi.
  48. * dreamreal writes that down
  49. ParaI mean look at it, 9/10 foreigners who are aware of it have the same reaction https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%A4mmi
  50. nevetMämmi - Wikipedia
  51. dreamrealthe thing is, I'm an awful cook
  52. dreamrealhah
  53. dreamrealI wish I had a camera to capture my expression, I could FEEL it
  54. Para(it's apparently an acquired taste but actually pretty good, one description I've heard is "Guinness pudding")
  55. dreamrealI looked at it and was going "what ... what IS that?"
  56. dreamrealit actually sounds halfway decent though
  57. dreamrealI wonder if world market has it
  58. ParaYeh, it's just got very unfortunate look.
  59. ParaI'm sure there's an angle for selling it in the States, as it's completely OK to load it with heavy cream and sugar.
  60. dreamrealWe have plenty of people who avoid the traditional US eating practices, too, you know :D
  61. dreamrealthe memes are funny but not as normal as they're made to appear
  62. cheeser~litharge++
  63. nevet~litharge now has karma of 1.
  64. javabotlitharge has a karma level of 1, cheeser
  65. cheesersomeday i'll back that in to the bot. litharge isn't quite a responsive as I'd like.
  66. dreamrealI still don't trust bots enough to want them to have ops like that
  67. cheeserkinda, yeah.
  68. dreamrealnevet could do it but ... nah. Besides, nevet's design isn't centered enough on IRC.
  69. dreamrealI have a PR for nevet waiting on approval to actually handle GDPR and OIDC login concerns: still no UI but the endpoints are getting more solider, shall we say
  70. dreamrealI am, BTW, learning a great preference for GDPR: I find I prefer skynet to get europe first thanks to GDPR. Everywhere else can enjoy the five minutes before THEIR annihilation in peace.
  71. dreamrealI think I could tolerate GDPR if it was better-specified for people like me.
  72. GreenResponseskynet… rubbish. It’ll be all neo Middle Ages in Russkiy Mir
  73. GreenResponsecultivating kartoshka for Mongol overlords
  74. * geenvoud didn't expect racial othering of potatoes on #java
  75. GreenResponseyou meant to say taters I guess
  76. geenvoudcultivated by tater-mongols?
  77. GreenResponseyep, they ingest them in both solid and liquid form
  78. Paradreamreal: The actual directive is pretty easy reading, but I do get your point. It's required quite a few "fucking hell, this is what we meant, stop being prissy" documents.
  79. ParaEspecially in the enforcing part :P
  80. dreamrealI even understand the motive, I have no problem with the motivation, but it's nuts
  81. ParaWell, it's a result of everyone ignoring a previous, more relaxed directive.
  82. ParaDSA is in the same evolution of directives, it's just taken a long time.
  83. ParaOne thing that's not exactly in the directive btw is that everyone who handles personal data is nowadays considered a controller.
  84. ParaThis was changed a few years back because people were apparently setting up shell companies to get around this.
  85. ParaAnd the requirement to tell who you've shared the data with is also now transitive.
  86. dreamrealMY app is lucky, because it's pretty simple in that regard and I'm not interested in sharing captured personalized information with anyone in any way that's not horribly obvious (i.e., if you provide your name, it's going to be used to show that content you contributed as contributed by you)
  87. ParaAnd that's pretty much just a "We use your name to show it next to content" in the...whatever it's called, register usage report or smth.
  88. ParaBtw, UK is to blame for the cookie consent banners.
  89. ParaWouldn't have happened without them. And then they did the Brexit thing. Yay.
