- iluxbliminse, this is the official livera java channel with 200 java user, you are welcome to ask your qustion
- iluxsorry
- iluxoh he is away!
- deeboasync communication is hard on some
- jreicherHear that everyone? We're official.
- dreamrealHah.
- dreamrealThere is no official java channel. Oracle wouldn't allow it. It's why on OPN we were ##java.
- Inlinewth, why should java be an oracle thing, it's a language and languages have users.....
- Inlineotherwise you deny the whole userbase
- dreamrealbecause java is owned by oracle
- dreamrealthat's why
- dreamrealalso why java ee turned into jakarta ee, etc
- dreamrealsun open sourced java and sort of made it harder for oracle to shackle java, but oracle still owns it through their purchase of sun
- dreamrealpeople will NEVER appreciate Sun enough, I think
- dreamrealand eclipse should be ashamed about it
- Inlinejakarta is the opensource one yah ?
- dreamrealno
- Inlineah
- dreamrealjakarta is the rebranded one because oracle felt the java brand was becoming diluted (this is what *I* think, I'm not at oracle so I don't have an insider's knowledge)
- Inlinediluted.... kotlin,.... wth man
- dreamrealwhat does kotlin have to do with this?
- Inlineyes, at this point java is a tree rather.... with many branches
- dreamrealand always has been. We saw the same thing with pizza, back around 1.1

- ParaI, as official Java man, hereby declare...
- dreamrealnot my writing, FWIW
- ParaI've been poking at Jetbrains Air plugin for a bit and I just have to say, wtf Jetbrains. How can their AI tooling story get stupider by the release. It's not that it's wrong, but they seem to be missing the mark all the time, especially considering corporate/enterprise customers which I'd imagine should be their largest user bases.
- Para1) using enterprise licenses like GitHub Copilot subscription seems to be some kind of config voodoo; the GUI buttons use some free version and nothing says what's the right way to set things up
- Para2) using local/self-hosted LLMs (another major corporate/enterprise requirement) seems to be missing entirely
- ParaFor the second I have a hunch that it's somehow meant to be chained by *takes a deep breath* installing Air plugin, configuring Junie subscription, installing Junie CLI, configuring Junie with e.g. litellm config and then walking the dog backwards through the chain to get the Air prompt to actually use it.
- ParaThe fallback mode also seems to be "lol we don't know lets just pipe things to Free subscriptions" which is a very strict no on the enterprise level.
- ParaI might be 100% wrong because all this is 0% documented, which is also a problem in itself.
- ParaOn the positive, Air prompt is better than AI Assistant (probably due to being ACP based and up-to-date with how protocols work), so it's not all bad, just getting there is a hurdle.
