  18. bot<discord:blue> Ugh rust
  19. bot<discord:blue> Rust and AI, just the right combination
  20. phalethyeah, seriously, what a way to bust the project
  21. blue100%
  22. blueanother one bites the dust
  23. bluewe're the only ones left to save the planet, phaleth
  24. phalethcurrently, I've got enough to learn about how to setup the infra, not gonna do any coding any time soon
  25. blueyou're not supposed to do much coding for now
  26. phalethalso makes no sense if clankers can just spit out 30k LoC
  27. blueya
  28. phalethbtw, I'm trying to learn golang even when I'm not sure I will be able to use golang anywhere
  29. phalethgolang is like a gateway to C
  30. bot<discord:josephbottinger> I'd prefer zig to go, personally; go is useful but it's sort of like what you'd get if you redsigned PHP from the ground up with basic competence in your backpocket instead of whatever PHP had going for it

  36. bluedreamreal: you're truly challening the 'they' narrative! :P
  37. bluechallenging*
  38. bluedreamreal: if all goes well, json operators are coming to the ORM in 0.37
  39. blueI still need to consider exactly *which* operators; but querying within a JSON field in a typesafe way could be a dream
  40. bluedreamreal: https://github.com/primate-run/primate/commit/c776338588be2f4ac46285b08c6f3338723bf29c
  41. nevetpema/orm/db: add support for JSON types and JSON columns 路 primate-run/primate@c776338
  42. bluethis uses TEXT for SQLite, JSONB for postgres, JSON for mysql/mariadb, and embedded documents for Mongo
  43. blueit also adds `p.json()` to pema, with the ability to pass a bespoke schema into it: `p.json({ foo: p.string })`. this info can then be used to make typesafe querying within json columns

  55. blueTHIS IS SO COOL
  56. dreamrealokay, that's actually broken
  57. dreamrealbut it's working in concept
  58. dreamrealdamn it
  59. bluebut wait: do we need to tell the username twice?
  60. dreamrealno I guess not but this is the first deployment of the feature, we expect to have to tune it
  61. dreamrealfor NOW we can live with it until I can fix it

  65. dreamrealhaha
  66. dreamrealoooo that's RIGHT
  67. blueinteresting: I'm reacting to other messages... but it's not showing up
  68. dreamrealInteresting
  69. blueis it locked on this one message now?
  70. dreamrealright, it's not SUPPOSED to do anything once a message is "aged"
  71. bot<discord:josephbottinger> hmm
  72. bot<discord:josephbottinger> * josephbottinger reacted with :馃槀:
  73. bluesee?
  74. dreamrealoh, it's ALSO not supposed to cross the streams
  75. blueor maybe it's only possible to react to 'pure' discord messages?
  76. blueHA, knew it!
  77. dreamrealreading to an IRC message via discord is not a good idea
  78. dreamrealthat's 100% a design intention
  79. blueI mean, from discord's POV, it's just another message, one that nevet sent
  80. blueis it worth making the distinction here?
  81. dreamrealyeah, but nevet doesn't see its own bridged messages
  82. dreamrealso capturing them would be *difficult*
  83. blueooh, RIGHT.
  84. blueI think I'd be ok for now with this being a discord-first feature
  85. bluethe bridge's main function is to see irc messages, and now it also replicates a discord-inner functionality
  86. blueit might surprise some users that it doesn't 'work' for relayed messages.. but I think it's ok for now
  87. dreamrealyeah, it's not supposed to be a matrix equivalent. Matrix can do it because matrix exceeds the message types.
