  1. bluephaleth: hi
  2. phalethhi blue
  3. blueI just discovered something totally crazy & fundamentally broken about reality
  4. blueso if you have a gmail account
  5. bluelike say, phaleth.is.awesome@gmail.com
  6. bluedid you know you'd get mails sent to phalethisawesome@gmail.com, too?
  7. bluegmail ignores dots
  8. blueand this completely breaks reality, because nobody else ignores dots
  9. blueso you could create two paypal accounts, one with and one without dots, using the same email
  10. blueand in fact, apparently scammers now use this to establish trust
  11. blueso they sign you up with your gmail, just with a variation of your email with/without dots
  12. blueyou get a legit email from the provider
  13. blueand then they send you a second email from their faked provider, saying there's a problem with the account
  14. phaleththis reality is great for scammers
  15. blueEXACTLY
  16. bluethis is CRAZY
  17. blueof all the stupid and dumb things google ever did, this gotta top it
  18. bluedreamreal: ^
  19. phalethactually honest peopel are being turned into scammers and scammers breed scammers faster than ever in the history of humanity
  20. blueyup
  21. bluehonestly only this is reason to not ever use gmail
  22. bluethis is totally wrong black voodoo magic!
  23. dreamrealYes, I HATE this
  24. dreamreal+ is ignored, as it should be, . is not, and I HATE it
  25. dreamrealutter madness
  26. phalethI'm using disroot.org for my mailboxes, they gave me this nice @getgoogleoff.me alias that I use almost everywhere except when comunicating with authorities
  27. bluewhy would EVER ignore dots in an email, this goes against EVERYTHING that is correct
  28. blueit's like an open invitation for scammers
  29. phalethwell, some systems fail to parse e-mail addresses correctly when there are for example two dots in before the @ of the e-mail address
  30. * phaleth looking at OOTB wordpress
  31. phalethalso you should not use real names on the interwebz anyway even if that makes people laugh at you and also on gmail all the names are already taken
  32. bluelol
  33. phalethalso gmail requires a phone number
  34. phalethno reason to bother with gmail
  35. phalethbtw, I'm trying to figure out how to setup e-mail server on podman
  36. dreamrealDunno. I've been getting aid messages for some poor lady in the midwest for YEARS thanks to that period consumption
  37. * dreamreal hands phaleth mailpit... and runs
  38. phalethI'm gonna keep using mailcow, it started enforcing 2FA in latest release, but whatever
  39. phalethactually it added ability to let admin enforce 2FA
  40. dreamrealI figured out nevet's slow irc response time last night :(
  41. dreamrealwas an id10t error :(
  42. dreamrealwasn't in the code at all, nevet was turning around in 6-7ms, my irc client was throttling output
  43. phalethmy current IRC lag is almost 3 seconds
  44. nevetok, phaleth: updated my current irc lag.
  45. dreamreallag in what context?
  46. phalethit managed to respond within those 3 seconds
  47. phalethIRC client <-> server lag
  48. dreamrealnevet's internal response time is around 7ms per message, spawned out from threads. Pretty much ALL the lag is from the server and client; the bug I was chasing was LITERALLY my client
  49. dreamreali'd send 30 factoid updates in a single paste (I set up groups of factoids to set, then paste them in a block) and it was taking a minute to respond to them all
  50. dreamreal... because weechat's antiflood protection was sending one message every two seconds
  51. dreamrealit's not quite exactly two seconds because irc itself is slow but that's where the problem was: literally my client
  52. dreamrealwas chasing that for three days :D
  53. phalethdreamreal: https://images4.imagebam.com/a7/9e/c0/ME1BOL06_o.png
  54. phalethis it something up with weechat I could also fix?
  55. phalethI think it's just the whatever libera server being hosted in japan or wherever
  56. dreamrealirc.server.libera.anti_flood <-- that's the setting if your connection is called libera
  57. dreamrealI wasn't seeing a problem with lag so much as it was justtaking time to *receive* the messages and I blamed my code for it
  58. phalethok, thank you
  59. dreamrealbytecode.news will have an article about it monday, it's written but publishing on the weekend is kinda dumb
  60. phalethhuh, long default
  61. phalethweechat โ•ก Option changed: irc.server.libera.anti_flood = 10 (default if null: 2000)
  62. dreamrealSeems to fit the "30 messages in one minute" assertion, huh
  63. dreamrealI set mine to 250
  64. phalethyeah, bots should not spam
  65. dreamrealI'm not a bot, I should be able to spam!
  66. phalethblue: for child containers we still need to be able to capture command line output as stream https://upaste.de/raw/iXa do you know if js runtime can do that?
  67. phalethwhen all these "tty":true or whatever params are set to false then there is no output at all from the REST API
  68. phalethah, there is also /libpod/containers/{name}/attach, lets give that a try
  69. phalethattach to container only works at runtime, not at buildtime
  70. phalethI mean it is essentially runtime, but for that podman build command there is no stream output
  71. bluephaleth: I'm not 100% sure
  72. bluewill need to look up if js runtime can do it
  73. phalethhttps://github.com/nodejs/node/blob/main/doc/api/tty.md
  74. phalethnot sure you will be able to get the file descriptor
  75. blueya
  76. phalethI think it's number 3 for stdout
  77. phalethactually STDIN (fd/0), STDOUT (fd/1) and STDERR (fd/2)
  78. blueya
  79. phalethrootless podman inside rootless podman does not really work even with the official podman image
  80. bluelol
