  111. ParaThat reminds me, I should dig up my old bug report to see if the silent thread death in Spring Messaging has been fixed. One issue with it is that if the thread fails to catch a thrown exception, the whole Spring core goes into limbo state. Ot at least was at one point.
  112. Paraalso: that's a really stupid behavior for Kafka offset commit.
  113. dreamrealNo, it's not
  114. dreamrealit makes perfect sense in context
  115. dreamrealhey, do me a favor
  116. Parafavor

  118. dreamrealpost the bytecode.news url to #java! That's the right forum for that discussion anyway
  119. dreamrealI'm still in soft launch mode but I'm trying to actually launch
  120. ParaI'll actually read that through first. With my remaining awake brain cells.
  121. dreamreal(there's a new article on that kafka commit thing)
  122. dreamrealof course
  123. ParaSlept like three hours last night, apparently a large chunk of city's populace was awaken last night because we had to scramble Hornets as Ukraine is having a drone party on Russia's side near the border and the barbeque's just getting worse.
  124. dreamrealHopefully the wars and rumors of them will recede as some of the bad actors get taken off the stage. I'm sorry, man.
  125. ParaYeah well, force majeure. Anyways, I'll read + post then.
  126. dreamrealforce majeure is the end condition, yes, something people tend to forget
  127. Paraalso if you want to be entertained, our Hornet pilots are freaking great, here's a demo from some air show last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc-_UHUeBHY

  129. ParaLike even as a layman I was impressed.
  130. dreamrealI'm aware of the fa-18's characteristics, yes :D
  131. dreamrealwhat's really funny is that our chinese and russian brethren were not aware of what the 18 could really do
  132. ParaAnd our pilots treat them like rally cars.
  133. dreamrealwhich is why I think 2026 is gonna be a reset year for a lot of actors
  134. dreamrealI hate the turmoil but it only takes one asshat to start a fight
  135. ParaI'm going to post that Kafka article to our company Slack's relevant channel as well.
  136. dreamrealpiotr's, or mine?
  137. ParaI don't expect anyone to read it (it's 2PM over here already, plus aforementioned thing) but hey and whatever.
  138. ParaThe bytecode.news one
  139. ParaOur internal Java and Kafka channels have both become quite quiet lately, so maybe that'll actually entice a reply or a few. Or not, but at least I did my part.
